Situational awareness

Suspend all disbelief but I was in a pub last night (well, strictly speaking two pubs but that doesn’t invalidate the first point) and it struck me that as far as Irish pubs go:

yes, many of them really do sell many other useful (depending on desire to get out the house) things, act as bookies etc.

your meal will come with chips .. and boiled potatoes … and probably mash as well, so you don’t feel cheated

beer, wine and spirits are all in abundance but wine would be a curious thing for anyone to ask for

racing is A Big Thing everywhere

for the past few days GAA is A Very Big Thing (would love to find a way to watch a game)

locals will definitely be familiar with your next walking destination.. but not so much the next … and beyond that … where !?!!

in England if Johnny Foreigner clearly doesn’t understand then we’ll talk LOUDER and more S-L-O-W-L-Y … over here seems to be the opposite

swearing is not only seemingly de rigeur but an art form

Mind you I probably need to do more research

Another  near perfect walking day with great panoramas

And got to Carrick-on-Suir in time for both the footy and rugby. Having agitated for the rugby to be put on and then cheering my Sarries to victory over Munster it dawned on me that the pub might have got quieter because I’d just walked over the border into ….. I’ll get my coat … but lovely people, really

otherwise walk was good if too much road

No idea about Kill My Cow but thought I’d pop over to the other village til I realised Dave Jordan was still in Italy

MOTD1 – into 6th county, Tipperary, which really is a long way to go
