May wonders never cease

Becca begged me to give her blisters a decent 22 mile work-out over semi-rough terrain and you know me, I can’t refuse that woman anything….

we had to have a bit of a stroll across some moor, known to be quite remote. The sort of pleasant walk that could be a misery trudge in inclement weather. Unbelievably it was Scotland’s Annual Day of Sunshine so we basked in SADS day and had views like this.

The route took us through Glen Coe, scene of Scotland’s bloody massacre of 100+ years ago between the Campbells and MacDonalds. I think the MacDonalds started the bun fight over some mcnugget or another and in retaliation had huge pots of burning soup poured over them but I’ll need to check my Horrible Histories book.

It really was a day of beautiful views, here’s another one

Of course it was The Village BtB today and our thoughts were with fellow walkers. Instead of Heartattack Hill pre-lunch we had post lunchstop (yep, we did the stop thing and the lunch thing) something called The Devil’s Staircase. 548 metres up which tested the old hamstrings.

And to prove that the May wonders were not a one-off at the top of said Stairway to Heather (?) we actually had a view of Ben Nevis, visible and in sunshine

There’s one for the record books.

Milestone of the Day : getting officially to the Highlands (which is where we’ll stay until we’re finished or finished off)

stroll on ?
