Let it blow … let it snow ….

probably like me you normally lose focus when the weather report starts talking about that northern place… as part of some sort of shock tactic this morning they put lots of white stuff on the UK pic in this neck of the woods and talked about bitter northerlies.

my first-hand interpretation of this is that it means you get sleet at 8 then some mixed cloud and sun with not at all mixed strong winds; strong enough for me to take the rucksack’s waterproof cover off because the parachute effect seemed to result in most forward momentum negated by the amount I wax ‘chutes back every step. Then at 3 there was a 30 min hailstorm as I was trying to come off an exposed hill and exercising my right to roam. That hail can really sting you know….is this what is meant by white marching powder??

all a good warm-up (cool down?) for more of the same to come apparently.  Might have to get the long trousers out soon…. one of the forgotten (as in hopefully banished to the deepest memory recesses) mini-adventures of yesterday was me having a major wobble. It was on a ricketedy old wooden suspension bridge. It wobbled quite a lot; I physically wobbled more and emotionally was all over the place. I figured crying more would just raise the level of the Tweed over the side of the bridge so pulled myself vaguely together, got up off of all fours and heroically traversed it. Like  the tree in the wood if no-one saw it it didn’t happen right?

whilst the scenery isn’t as dramatic as elsewhere in Scotland, as I expect to see, it is nevertheless full of undulating charm….

Milestone of the day: over 800 miles now…. just under 50,000 steps today and tomorrow will be another chance to seemingly keep a relatively constant 17 miles from Edinburgh (although Glasgow looms nearer)

Stroll on ?
