A Stroller Errant?
In day’s of Yore there’d be knights (and dragons) where yer man would face oncoming wild horses with nothing much more than a sharp stick: the knight errant. Can I claim similar with my walking pole and that the horses are now of the metal variety?
Wick, the penultimate step, has been reached – they appear to have been waiting for me
Becca has again done the smart thing and is currently in the Pulteney Distillery (she really does like Scotland) having been bobbing about before in a RIB up and down coast. Wick is dead cosmopolitan you know, it even has a French restaurant. Bonnet de douche.
in answer to the “how are you getting home?” question we knew that there is an overnight sleeper. What we didn’t know is that the only night it doesn’t operate is …
so Plan B is as follows. I’m keen to take a train as I’d like to:
1) relax, chill, spread out a bit and see the scenery over a few hours; and
2) take on board a few / many ethanol-based beverages and chocolate to celebrate; and
3) see how long it’d take to empty the carriage by keep saying “I walked past there …and there …and…”
Soooo, for various reasons we’re going early Sat coach to Thurso, then coach (or train) to Inverness then train to Glasgow where we stop over. Then train to Edinburgh to pick up a direct train to Swindon. Plot it on a map and it resembles a drunkard’s walk which is funny really because ….
one of the benefits of all this time and these miles together is that you really get to know each other, you finish each others’ sentences when you meet people, almost telepathic. Becca and I were chatting about what fancy meal to have in Glasgow to celebrate. She immediately said ‘sushi’ just as I said ‘steak’. It is uncanny isn’t it.
I’ve pointed out that if she had surf n turf then she can have uncooked prawns and as they have a cocktail bar they’ll probably have sake… I see no problem, only opportunity.
According to the maps of Google it’s 17 miles tomorrow. Hope to get there lunchtime or so.
stroll on ?

So by the time you read this the only important message will be “Well done.”, then let the feasting begin. If you pause in Glasgow long enough to eat, an alternative to your modified surf & turf might be Sapporo teppanyaki. I hope you have a smooth and relaxing journey back – you’ve earned it.
