We’ve started ….

all the posturing and chest-puffing is over (and for me too) – today was the hard yards, no hiding place when you’re out in the elements battling all that Mother Nature can throw at you. But did we care? Hard core as we are we toiled away gamely putting one foot after another into some bog, turning a cheek into more wind and laughing in the face of the mileage markers…. Zennor is done, Mermaid and Tinner’s Arms have been quaffed and Gwithian holds no terrors for us.

My drama queen moment over … We fortified ourselves early doors on the long-distance  walkers’ favourite of porridge and honey washed down with a luvverly rainbow (no honestly, it was a message from the cosmos clearly (photographic evidence available once I win my battle with technology (so not for a while yet))). As part of the concerted and successful Mission to Save Becca Campaign an old friend of hers, Kat, joined us to help us through the first 16 miles or so  – 1% and counting). Kat’s qualifications include care for the elderly – and yes it was nice to have someone wipe the lunchtime soup from my chin and put a shawl around me when it got a bit nippy.

Ah, the stars are aligned – 2 pics that incontrovertibly prove that rainbows exist …. and that I’m not too smelly just yet. Strava route to be added ( see above) but I’ve already noted that Mr. Strava speaks with a generous but forked tongue – the route was accurate but the mileage was greatly inflated, see route tab for accuracy but we can claim 44,420 steps apparently (size 10).

thanks for all the kind messages in various forms, they are all gratefully receieved … and give Becca some respite from my punnery (upon my soles they do).
